Why SEU Matters After Georgia's 2026 University Reform

Georgia's government reformed its public university system in 2026. State-funded schools, including Tbilisi State Medical University and Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, stopped taking new international students. The plan: shift public resources toward free education for Georgian citizens. This left many Indian families searching for a new path.

Private universities were untouched by the reform. Georgia has 64 accredited institutions in total and 45 of them are private. Every one of these private schools still admits international students, with no restrictions. Georgian National University Georgia stands out among them as one of the largest and it has become a top choice for Indian students who want to study MBBS at SEU Georgia without any delay to their admission plans.

Clinical Training and Hospital Partnerships

In 2022, Georgian National University SEU acquired an equity share in American Hospital Tbilisi, a Joint Commission International accredited facility. This hospital spans 23,000 square meters and holds 223 beds. It represents an investment of about Rs.430 crore and it runs on Western clinical standards. SEU medical students get priority access here for clinical courses, bedside rotations and hands-on training under licensed doctors.

The clinical network extends further. SEU students also rotate through S. Khechinashvili University Hospital, Innova Hospital, Central Republican Hospital, High Technology Medical Centre, Amtel Hospital and Enmedic Hospital. Together, these sites offer access to more than 5,300 teaching beds. That scale matters for a medical student. A wide, diverse patient base means more real cases, more variety and better preparation before graduation. Few universities in the region match this level of direct hospital integration and it stands as one of the clearest reasons Indian families choose SEU over other options in Georgia.

Georgian National University SEU MBBS Syllabus

The Georgian National University (SEU) Syllabus follows the European Credit Transfer System, spread across twelve semesters. Most MBBS Abroad options in Georgia follow this pattern.

The first three years build the science foundation. Anatomy, biochemistry and pathology come first, taught through labs and simulation, not just textbooks. From year four onward, students move into hospitals for bedside rotations and real patient contact. Assessment style shifts too. Pre-clinical years lean on lab exams and OSPEs, while clinical years switch to bedside evaluations and OSCEs, the same exam formats used in international licensing tests.

Cost of Living in Georgian National University Tbilisi

Hostel and food together cost about $2,280 a year, roughly $190 a month and this is already built into the total fee package above. Beyond that, students should budget for personal expenses: local transport, phone and internet, laundry and the occasional trip around the city.

A realistic monthly budget for Georgian National University Living Cost, outside the prepaid hostel plan, runs between $80 and $150. Tbilisi is not an expensive city by European standards and public transport costs very little. Winters get cold, so factor in warm clothing during the first year. Currency matters here too: since fees and living costs are billed in USD, a weakening rupee can raise the real cost over six years, so families should plan with some cushion.

SEU Georgia Hostel and Accommodation

On-campus hostel fees are already included in the fee package, at $2,280 a year, covering both housing and food. Georgian National University Hostel and Accommodation puts students close to campus and to the clinical training sites, cutting daily commute time to almost nothing. Rooms come with basic furnishing and meal plans are arranged through the university, which matters for students adjusting to a new country in their first year. Many Indian students value the built-in food plan, since it removes the stress of cooking and grocery shopping while managing a demanding academic schedule.

Scholarships at Georgian National University SEU

Georgian National University Scholarships exist for both merit and financial need, though the university does not publish a fixed slab or percentage. Selection depends on academic performance and, in some cases, financial circumstances, decided case by case through the admissions office.

Because scholarship terms can change each intake, families should confirm current-year criteria directly with SEU's admissions team before finalizing their budget. Do not rely on secondhand figures. A direct application inquiry is the only reliable way to know what discount, if any, applies to a specific student's profile.
