Alte University MBBS Course Duration and Curriculum

Alte University medical program runs for six years, split into three phases.

The final year folds in a mandatory 12-month clinical internship at the university's partner hospitals. This internship is hands-on and hospital-based, not observational. That detail matters because the NMC rejects purely observational internships when reviewing a graduate's eligibility.

Alte University NMC Recognition and FMGE Eligibility

This is the question every parent asks first: will this degree count in India?

NMC's FMGL 2021 rules set four conditions for a foreign MBBS degree to count in India. Alte University does meet all four:

After graduation, students register as a Junior Doctor with Georgia's Ministry of Education and Science. This registration meets NMC's licensing parity rule, since Georgian citizens graduating from the same course get the identical status.

In the December 2025 FMGE cycle, Alte University recorded a 48.77% pass rate, more than double the Indian national average of about 23%.

Alte University Hostel and Accommodation

Housing is arranged, not left to chance. Students live at Hostel Golden Palace or Hostel Colosseo, both run in partnership with the university.

Students who prefer independent living can rent an apartment in central Tbilisi for $150 to $300 a month, depending on distance from the metro and campus.

Students after completing MD Program in Georgia may explore multiple options for their Medical PG like India after clearing NEXT, USA after Clearing USMLE, UK after clearing PLAB Exam, or Medical PG in Germany. Those who are looking for Medical PG from Georgia need to do one year of Internship in Georgia after their 6 years of the MD Program. Before that, they have to clear Georgian Medical PG Licensing Exam. Very few international students opt for it in the program in Georgian, and no acceptance in their native country.
