MBBS Counselling Guidance
What is Medical Counselling?
Medical counselling is the process through which students secure admission to MBBS and other medical courses in India. After the NEET results are declared, students must register for counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for All India Quota seats and by respective state authorities for state quota seats.
How Does MBBS Counselling Work?
The counselling process involves online registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting to the allotted college. The entire process is conducted in multiple rounds to ensure fair distribution of seats.
Important: Counselling rules, schedules and document requirements can vary by counselling authority. Always verify the latest official instructions before submitting choices.
Important Steps in the Counselling Process
- Registration: Register on the official counselling portal with your NEET roll number and personal details.
- Choice Filling: Select the colleges and courses you prefer in order of priority. You can edit choices within the given deadline.
- Choice Locking: Lock your choices before the deadline. Locked choices cannot be changed.
- Seat Allotment: Seats are allocated based on NEET rank, category, and your choice preferences.
- Reporting & Admission: If a seat is allotted, you must report to the college within the specified timeframe and complete admission formalities.
Understanding College & Course Choices
While filling preferences, consider the college's reputation, facilities, location, and fee structure. Also consider the course type (MBBS/BDS) and specialization if applicable. It is advisable to include a mix of high-priority and backup options.
Tip: Use MBBS Dunia's college predictor to understand your chances before finalizing your choices.
